Servanthood
Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual
fervor, serving the Lord. Romans 12:11 NIV
But as for you,
be clear-headed in every situation [stay calm and cool and steady], endure
every hardship [without flinching], do the work of an evangelist, fulfill [the
duties of] your ministry.
2 Timothy 4:5 AMP
Serving is the heart of the Christian life. One of our
responsibilities God gives us is to serve one another. We are to be encouraging and passionate about
spreading the word of God. We are to imitate Jesus; He is the ultimate example
of serving. Servanthood is one who is
known as obedient and faithful to Christ.
Paul encouraged not only Timothy but all the Christians in Rome how to
serve others. We are to live a lifestyle of servanthood. In every aspect and
situation of our lives, we are to be good representatives of Christ in
fulfilling our duties as Christians with spiritual fervor.
I believe as servants of God we must have a heavenly
perspective. The work that we do is not in vain, and it is for the Kingdom of
God. In 1 Corinthians 15:58 it says,
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in
the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.” Don’t
be lazy; be diligent in serving the Lord.
Believers will endure hardship, but through the difficulties, we are to
remain steadfast obeying God's command over our lives.
